The Russell School

An assembly is held everyday, either in the form of phase, year group or whole school setting.  Assemblies reinforce our school values, explore PSHE themes, promote thinking and reasoning skills, debate current affairs and promote multi faith religious festivals.  Pupils play an active part in assemblies through discussion and reflection and our Head Boy,  Head Girl and School Council Representatives also present to the children.

Each Friday, we hold a special celebration assembly in which children are recognised for their achievements, efforts, attitudes to learning and kindness.

Classes showcase their learning to their families and the rest of the school at least once each year by holding a class assembly.  Children also have the opportunity to perform to the rest of the school through a variety of music and drama assemblies.  Special assemblies are held annually to commemorate events such as Armistice Day and Harvest, as well as themed assemblies link to whole school events.

The importance of good attendance is also promoted with the children each week during assembly.
