The Russell School

Curriculum Enrichment

Our curriculum is enriched through a wide range off-site visits, residential visits, themed days and weeks, visitors and practical experiences. Children consolidate their learning through opportunities to apply learnt skills across subject areas and in meaningful situations whenever possible.

The acquisition of an additional language (French) is developed from Year 1 upwards to enrich learning both culturally and linguistically.

Children also have wider opportunities to learn to play a variety of musical instruments, with lessons provided by peripatetic teachers from Hertfordshire Music Service.

The school has its own orchestra and choir, providing the children with many opportunities to perform alongside their peers. Children also enjoy showcasing their musical talents to the rest of the school community through regular concerts and take part in wider collaborations such as The Three Rivers Music Festival and Young Voices.
